Makeup All Commercial Actors & Models Need
As actors & models, we are increasingly expected to do our own makeup and have it look professionally done. There is a growing trend of production telling the hired actor to come to set camera-ready, with makeup done and wardrobe of your own. I tried to get away with using the cheapest stuff possible, but after learning my lesson, I took a closer look at what my makeup artists were using on me, asked them for recommendations, and have now amassed a small arsenal of the products actors & models need to look camera-ready on set and in the audition room.
The key to any commercial actor & model’s makeup bag is having great neutral colors that complement your skin tone. Most of the shoots I have done have required office or daytime appropriate makeup looks (meaning they want you to look like you’re wearing hardly any makeup at all). There are so many different types of products and it can be so confusing to pick quality products that work on-camera. Below are my absolute favorite products that I always use for auditions and on-set.
