How I Stay In Shape | Day In The Life Of An Actor / Model

As actors, models and artists it’s so important for us to stay in shape. Now when I say in shape I don’t mean thin. I mean maintaining strong, healthy bodies so that we’re ready for whatever physical demands our work places on us. Often our work is physical and it requires stamina and strength. So in today’s video I’m going to show you guys a glimpse of how I like to train 3-5 days per week.

Before I start working with my trainer I like to come into the gym 15-20 minutes early so I can warm up.  I’m usually still sore from the session before so warming up helps me have a more effective workout.  My favorite warm up is messing around with the jump rope; it’s full body, helps get my body warm and prevents injury.

I have tried a ton of different types of exercise: cardio only, weightlifting only, boxing, and now circuit training with a personal trainer.  Of everything I have tried so far, I love high intensity interval training, or HIIT.  I have the kind of personality where, if I have somebody pushing me, I will give it everything I have so I’ve had the most effective workouts since I started working with my trainer.

As artists, it’s so important for us to maintain healthy bodies.  We often work long hours in the elements and the directors ask a lot from our bodies.  If you’re doing a scene where you’re jogging, climbing stairs, moving boxes, you’re not doing that 1,2 or 3 times.  You’re doing it DOZENS of times and it’s important you train your body to be able to do what you need it to.  And consistency is key.
